Meeting Reports

April 10, 2001 general meeting

The SCWMC MET AT THE Good Spirit REDA boardroom. Special guest speaker, Andy Gillech, a Conservation Officer with Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management “Regulatory Branch” made a presentation of water quality and guidelines.

Dr. Huiqing Guo, Assistant Professor, Department of Agriculture and Bio-resource Engineering, University of Saskatchewan gave a presentation on “Odour Measurement and Set Back Distances.”

The remainder of the meetings throughout 2001 were subcommittee meetings, mainly soil getting the program up and running, and the hiring of an agrologist to oversee the results and write a report.

March 1, 2001 general meeting

The SCWMC met at the Good Spirit Business Resource Center Boardroom in Yorkton.

Last fall’s water sampling results will form the benchmark data for future comparisons.

Guest speaker’s Russ Johnson and Karen Bolten both from Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food “Pork Central”:

  1. Russ Johnson’s presentation on “Engineering Significance of the Geologic History of Saskatchewan.
  2. Karen Bolten’s (Manure Management Specialist) presentation on Soils Computer Programming.

February 6, 2001 general meeting

The SCWMC met at the Travelodge in Yorkton. Special guest was Dr. Jeff Schoenau, Professor at the Soils Sciences Department, University of Saskatchewan. His presentation was on “Manure, What it is all about.”

The proposed soil sampling program to be carried out by the committee was discussed.

January 10, 2001 general meeting

The SCWMC met at the Yorkton Tourism Center Boardroom. The results of last falls water sampling program were discussed.
